Every fence needs work sooner or later. A tree comes down across the line, a flood rips through the creek, a truck leaves the road, or cattle and sun just wear it out. We repair pipe, barbed wire, field fence, gates, and water gaps, repaint old pipe, and rebuild runs past patching. Text photos to 254-716-5760 or send them through the quote form.
What fence repair covers

Repair runs from one broken weld to a mile of fence that needs rebuilding. The fence type sets the work. Pipe gets cut and re-welded, wire gets re-stretched and spliced, posts get reset, braces get rebuilt, and gates get re-hung.
- Storm damage: trees and limbs across the line, wind-bent pipe, washed-out posts.
- Weld repair: cracked or broken welds and bent rails on pipe fence.
- Wire repair: slack, broken, or cut strands on barbed wire and field fence.
- Flood damage: torn-out crossings and the fence beside them at water gaps.
- Gates: sagging, dragging, or not latching. See ranch gates.
- Repaint: old pipe scraped and painted.
- Rebuilds: runs too far gone to patch.
When to call

After a storm or flood, ride the line. Fix the spots where stock can get out first, then the rest. If cattle are already out or a gap is open to the road, say so when you text and send photos. We'll tell you when we can get there.
Repair also makes sense before you sell or buy a place, before you turn horses out on a pasture that's sat empty, or when the fence that came with the place has been patched one too many times.
We do repair work in every town we serve, from Fort Worth west to Abilene and south to Waco.
Repair, repaint, or rebuild
Every repair job comes down to how much to fix. A sound fence with a few bad spots gets repaired. A fence with good bones and tired paint gets repainted. A fence that fails somewhere new every month needs its worst runs rebuilt.
Old used-pipe fence deserves a hard look. Drovers notes that used oilfield pipe can carry rust, pitting, and thin walls, and quotes a rancher who replaced a whole fence after cattle found the weak spots. If the pipe is rusting through in many places, patching costs more over time than replacing the run.
- Repair: the fence is sound, with a few failures.
- Repaint: the pipe is sound and the paint is gone.
- Rebuild: posts, pipe, or braces are failing in many places.
Matching what's there
The repair matches the fence: pipe close to the size of what's there, the same wire, and posts set deep enough to hold. The NRCS Texas fence standard (2021) calls for posts buried at least 3 feet, deeper in sandy or wet ground. A repaired post should hold like the ones beside it.
Repaint means scraping off loose paint and rust and painting the line. If it needs a rebuild, we'll spec the new fence with you just like a new job.
How a repair job goes
Start with photos. Text them to 254-716-5760 or send them through the quote form, with a rough idea of how much fence and where. Photos help us show up ready. Ask us whether a small repair can be priced from photos alone. Otherwise it gets priced on site after we walk the line.
Then we fix it: cut out and re-weld, reset posts, rebuild braces, re-stretch or replace wire, re-hang gates, and paint. The damage, ground, and weather set the timeline, and we'll give you a schedule with the quote.
What moves the price
Priced on site, once we see the damage. Here's what drives it:
- How much fence is damaged, and what kind.
- Getting to the damage, and trees or debris to clear.
- Posts and braces that need resetting.
- Repaint footage.
Gates and water gaps
A sagging gate is the easiest problem to spot. The hinge post is almost always the cause, so we reset or brace the post before re-hanging the gate. See ranch gates and openers.
Water gaps take the worst of a flood. Noble Research Institute recommends checking them after every significant rain. When one tears out, ask us about rebuilding it and the fence beside it, often in a way that handles the next flood better. See water gaps.
Keeping it from happening again
Fence damage is mostly predictable. Trees grow into the line and fall on it. Water finds the same crossings. Cattle push the same corners. Paint wears off the side facing the sun.
- Ride the fence after storms and high water.
- Clear trees and brush off the line before they fall on it. Our land clearing is mechanical.
- Keep pipe painted.
- Fix slack wire and leaning posts before stock find them.
- Put a real water gap where the fence crosses a creek.
Questions about fence repair & rebuilds
How fast can you get here after a storm?
That depends on where the place is and what's already on the schedule. Text photos to 254-716-5760 and tell us if stock are out. We'll tell you when we can get there.
Do you repair fence you didn't build?
Ask us. Send photos, tell us what you need, and we'll say whether it fits.
Can you repair old drill stem pipe fence?
Usually. Bad joints get cut out and replaced, broken welds get re-welded, and the line gets painted. If the pipe is rusting through along the whole run, rebuilding that run may cost less over time.
Do you repaint pipe fence?
Yes. We scrape off loose paint and rust and paint the line.
Can you just replace one section?
Yes. We match the pipe or wire and tie the new section into the old fence at solid posts.
Should I repair or rebuild?
Repair a sound fence with a few failures. Repaint sound pipe with worn paint. Rebuild runs where posts, pipe, or braces are failing in many places. Once we see it, we'll tell you what we'd do.
How is repair priced?
Ask whether a small repair can be priced from photos. If not, it's priced on site. The amount and type of damage, access, posts, and repaint footage all move the number.
