Lipan is a small town in northwest Hood County, out in the farm and ranch country between Weatherford and Stephenville. That's close to home for us. We work the places around town: pipe fence on the road front, ranch entries, shops and hay barns, building pads, and stock tanks.
Building around Lipan
Lipan is small, and what surrounds it is mostly land. Pasture, cattle, hay meadows, and here and there a new house on a fresh tract with nothing on it yet but a gravel drive. Places out here are working places, or bare ground someone wants to turn into one.
The land mixes open pasture and Cross Timbers: post oak and cedar on the rises, grass on the flats, and creeks and draws breaking it up. One fence line can cross three kinds of ground before it closes, and each takes posts differently. Walking it first isn't a formality. It's how we learn what the job is. A draw that's dry in August can run hard in May, and the line has to allow for it.
A Lipan-area place usually needs the same handful of things. A pipe front on the road. A perimeter that holds cattle. A barn or hay cover. A tank where the water will actually collect. We can take on all of it for one place, so you're not lining up separate outfits for the fence, the building, and the dirt, then hoping they agree on where the drive goes.
On bare ground, start with the layout. Where the house, the barn, and the entry go decides where the fence corners land and where the pad gets cut. Get that right on paper first, and the fence, the pad, and the tank go in once instead of getting moved later.
What we build in Lipan
- Pipe fence
A pipe front on the road is a good start on a Lipan-area place. The rest of the line can come later.
- Pipe top rail over wire
Cattle perimeters out here suit pipe top rail over wire. It covers the long lines without running full pipe the whole way.
- Ranch gates & openers
Hay trucks and goosenecks use Lipan-area entries, so we size the ranch gate opening for the widest thing coming through.
- Shops, barns & covers
Hay barns and equipment covers go up on a pad we cut, set so a loaded trailer pulls straight in.
- Dirt work & pads
A bare tract near Lipan usually needs a drive and a pad before anything else. We lay them out with the fence corners in mind.
- Ponds & stock tanks
On the rolling ground around Lipan, a stock tank usually belongs in a draw. We check the soil before we dig.

Permits and rules
Most places around Lipan sit in unincorporated Hood County. Inside the town itself, check with the city. We haven't verified either set of rules for this page, so ask Hood County about septic or floodplain before a pad or tank goes in. We'll build to what they require.
