Whitney is a small Hill County town near Lake Whitney, the big federal reservoir on the Brazos. TX-22 runs through town toward Hillsboro and FM 933 heads north. Around Whitney we build pipe fence, pipe top rail, high fence, water gaps, ranch gates, and fence repair, and we plan each one as a fence trip.
Building around Whitney
The lake is what draws people to this part of Hill County: weekend places, homes on a few acres by the water, and working ranches farther back. Away from the shore, west of town, it's limestone hills with cedar and oak. Head east toward Hillsboro and it flattens into Blackland farm ground.
Those two grounds are close together here. In the hills, rock is near the surface and post holes go slow. In the clay, posts need depth so the swell and shrink don't push them out of line. A place near Whitney can have both, so we look first and it's priced on site.
Deer are thick in the cedar and oak around the lake. Some owners want to hold them in, others want them out of a garden or hay field. That's what high fence is for. Draws draining to the lake cross plenty of pasture fence, and a water gap at each one lets runoff through without leaving the line open.
Whitney is close to the south end of our map, so work here is a planned fence trip. We're based in the Weatherford area. Send photos and a pin through the quote form or call 254-716-5760, and we'll talk through the line before we drive down.
What we build in Whitney
- Pipe fence
A painted pipe front on a place near Whitney looks finished from the road and keeps horses or cattle behind it.
- High fence & game fence
In the cedar hills west of Whitney, high fence gets corners set in rock and extra bracing where the grade changes.
- Water gaps
Anywhere a fence crosses a draw running to Lake Whitney, it gets a water gap.
- Ranch gates & openers
On a county-road entry with no power close by, a solar gate opener is the practical way to go.
- Fence repair & rebuilds
Clay leans the corners. Storms bend the rails. Repair around Whitney starts with the posts that moved.

Permits and rules
We haven't looked up Whitney's or Hill County's rules for this page. Inside city limits, call the City of Whitney first. Outside, call Hill County. If your land runs to the lake, find out who manages that shoreline before any fence goes near the water.
Whitney questions
Do you build near Lake Whitney?
Yes, on acreage around the lake and back away from it. If your fence would run near the shoreline, check with whoever manages it before we lay anything out.
Are you local to Whitney?
No. We come down from the Weatherford area in Parker County. So we plan Whitney jobs ahead, and we like to start with photos of the line.
