Tolar is a small town in western Hood County on US-377, between Granbury and Stephenville, with its own school district, Tolar ISD. It's open pasture, post oak, and creeks out here. Around Tolar we build pipe fence and gates, put up shops, barns, and barndominium shells, and do the pad, drive, and tank work.
Building around Tolar
Hood County gets quieter west of Granbury. By the time you reach Tolar the lake houses are gone, and the land along US-377 opens up into pasture, hay meadows, and small ranches, with post oak and cedar up on the ridges. Some of it is cattle land that's stayed in the same hands a long time. Some has been cut into tracts with a new house and not much else yet.
Draws run across the pasture and drain to the Brazos. The soil goes from sandy loam on the flats to rock on the ridges. Leave a ridge alone and cedar takes it, and it can bury where an old fence used to run. Part of our walk is finding that old line, if there is one, and deciding with you whether the new fence follows it.
A new tract near Tolar usually needs the same things in the same order: a drive, a building pad, an entry gate, then a shop or a barndominium shell. We lay it all out at once. On a barndo we handle the pad, the slab, and the structure. Wiring, plumbing, and interior finish go to contractors you pick.
Ranch work here means long cattle lines in pipe top rail over wire, pipe across the front, a water gap where the fence meets a creek, and a gate wide enough for a hay trailer. Thinking about deer? Ask us about high fence.
What we build in Tolar
- Pipe fence
On US-377 frontage near Tolar, pipe fence keeps stock back from fast highway traffic and looks finished from the road.
- Ranch gates & openers
Set a ranch entry back off the highway so a trailer is clear of 377 before the gate swings.
- Shops, barns & covers
Around Tolar, a shop or hay barn sits on a pad above the draws, doors facing the drive.
- Barndominium shells
A barndominium shell near Tolar starts with the pad, laid out together with the drive and the fence corners.
- Ponds & stock tanks
The draws on the Tolar flats are where a stock tank wants to go. We make sure the soil holds water before we dig.

Tolar questions
Do you build barndominium shells near Tolar?
Yes. We do the pad, the slab, the structure, and the dirt work around it. Your own contractors handle the inside. See barndominium shells.
Can you find an old fence line under the cedar near Tolar?
A lot of times there's enough left to tell where it ran: old posts, a corner, a strand of wire grown into a tree. We'll walk it with you. If the actual boundary matters, get a survey first and we'll build to the pins.
