Brock is a small community in southern Parker County, southwest of Weatherford, with its own school district, Brock ISD. We build pipe fence and ranch entries on the acreage around it, put up shops and barndominium shells on pads we cut, and dig stock tanks. It's our home county, so setting up the walk is easy.
Building around Brock
Brock is more farm road than town. South of I-20 the land opens into hay meadows, cattle pasture, and newer houses on a few acres, with older places mixed in. Along FM 1189 and the roads off it you'll see both side by side. Tired old wire on one side of the road, and a fresh tract with a gravel drive and nothing else yet on the other.
Up high it's Cross Timbers sand and loam under post oak. Down low the dirt is tighter and darker where the creeks drain toward the Brazos. Sand digs fast but lets a post work loose unless it goes deep and gets packed hard. The low spots stay wet after a rain and decide where a pad or drive can go. We mark both on the walk.
On a bare tract, the order of work matters. Cut the drive and the building pad first and the dirt only moves once. Then the fence corners go where the drive actually turns in. The entry gate gets set wide enough for whatever shows up to build the shop. The tank goes in the low corner where water already gathers.
For horses, pipe with no-climb wire is the usual pick. For a few cows on a longer line, pipe top rail over wire goes further for the money. Where a back line crosses a creek, a water gap keeps it closed in normal weather and lets a flood through without tearing out fence on either bank.
What we build in Brock
- Pipe fence
A pipe front along the road makes a good first project on a Brock-area tract. Add no-climb if horses are going on it.
- Ranch gates & openers
Make the entry gate wide enough for a concrete truck and a stock trailer. On a place still being built, both will come through it.
- Shops, barns & covers
A shop or hay barn near Brock sits on a pad we cut above the low ground, doors facing the drive.
- Barndominium shells
For a barndominium shell on new ground, we do the pad, the slab, and the structure. Interiors, electrical, and plumbing go to your own finish contractors.
- Dirt work & pads
Sandy high ground and wet low spots around Brock need different pad and drive work. We check both before we price it.
- Ponds & stock tanks
A stock tank belongs where runoff already gathers. On the walk we find that spot and check if the soil will hold water.

Brock questions
Is Brock close enough for a small job like one gate or a repair?
Do I need a permit to put up a shop near Brock?
In unincorporated Parker County there's no county building permit. Septic and floodplain work is still regulated, so a pad near a creek may need a look first. Inside any city's limits, ask that city.
We just bought bare land near Brock. Where do we start?
Pick spots for the house, the shop, and the entry. Those three set the fence corners and the pad. We'll walk it with you and stake it out before any dirt moves.
