Granbury is the Hood County seat, down US-377 from Weatherford, built around Lake Granbury and the Brazos River. On the acreage around town we build pipe fence and gates, put up shops and barns, set barndominium shells, and do pad, drive, and tank work. One crew runs it from layout to the last post.
Building around Granbury
Granbury is two kinds of country. Around the lake it's houses, docks, and subdivisions on the water. Back from the lake, north toward Lipan, west toward Tolar, and south on TX-144 toward Glen Rose, it turns to pasture, horse places, and small ranches. That second kind is where pipe fence, shops, and tanks fit.
The Brazos shapes the land. The river and its creeks cut Hood County into ridges and bottoms. Bottomland soil is deep and digs easy, but it floods. The ridges are rockier, with cedar moving in wherever nobody's cleared it. A fence or pad that crosses from one to the other has to be planned for both.
Hood County has grown a lot, and plenty of people buying acreage here are new to rural property. Good first projects: fence the front, put in an entry gate, and set a pad for a shop or a barndominium shell. On a barndo we handle the shell, the slab, and the site work, meaning the structure and the ground under it. Your own finish contractors handle interiors, electrical, and plumbing.
Fence here has to account for traffic too. US-377 and the farm roads off it carry more trucks every year. Along those roads you want a front that keeps stock well off the pavement and an entry set back far enough to pull a trailer all the way off the road before you stop. We plan the gate around that, and around where the mail carrier and the school bus stop, so nobody blocks the road while it opens.
What we build in Granbury
- Pipe fence
Horse places back from the lake get pipe fence with no-climb, laid out to cross the creek bottoms where the ground is firm.
- Ranch gates & openers
On new Hood County acreage, the entry gate and its opener often go in first, before the rest of the fence.
- Shops, barns & covers
Shops, barns, and covers sit on a pad above the low ground. In a county cut by the Brazos, that matters.
- Barndominium shells
Around Granbury we build barndominium shells: the pad, the slab formed and poured to the design, the structure, and the site. Finish work stays with your own contractors.
- Dirt work & pads
A drive off a farm road near Granbury that crosses a ditch or draw needs a built-up base and a way for water to get under it. Ask us about culverts.
- Ponds & stock tanks
On the rolling ground north and west of town, a stock tank goes where the draws already funnel runoff.

Permits and rules
We haven't verified Granbury's rules for this page. Inside city limits, ask the City of Granbury about fence and building permits. Out in the county, ask Hood County, and if you're near the lake or the river, ask about floodplain too. We'll build to what they require.
Granbury questions
Do you build on lake lots in Granbury?
We mainly work the acreage back from the lake. If your lake place has room for pipe fence or an entry gate, ask. Check the floodplain question with Hood County or the city first.
What's included in a barndominium shell near Granbury?
The slab, the structure, and the site work around it. Interiors, electrical, and plumbing aren't in our scope; your own finish contractors handle those. See barndominium shells.
Do you need to see the place before giving a price?
Yes. Every job is priced on site. Photos through the quote form help us show up prepared, but the price comes after the walk.
